Getting Started with Equipath
beginnerStart by creating your first entity, adding its jurisdiction registrations, and setting up filing rules to track compliance.
Understanding Roles and Permissions
beginnerEquipath uses five roles — Full Access, Accounting, Legal, Viewer, and Custom — to control what team members can see and do within a shared entity.
How to Export Your Compliance Data
beginnerExport your compliance data as a CSV or PDF from the Compliance tab — use the Export button at the top of the filings table.
Entities & Structure (5)
Modeling a Multi-Entity Holding Structure
advancedModel a holding structure by creating a parent entity first, then linking subsidiaries to it via the Entity's parent field.
Changing an Entity's Parent
intermediateChange an entity's parent in the Entity editor under Basic Info — the change is reflected immediately in the entity graph.
Entity Types and Tax Classifications
intermediateEquipath supports LLC, Corporation, Partnership, Trust, and more — each with appropriate tax classification options.
Avoiding duplicate entity records when collaborating
beginnerIf you and someone else are both connected to the same real-world entity (an LLC you co-own, a family trust, a holding company you both work on), only one of you should create it in Equipath. The other gets invited to share access. Two people independently creating the same entity produces duplicate records that Equipath can't automatically detect.
I was invited to view shared entities but can't find them
beginnerLook for a pending share notification on the portfolio page. Check the email address the share was sent to and add the address as an alias in your profile settings (if needed). Confirm with the sharer that the share is still active.
Registrations (2)
Setting Up Filing Rules for a Registration
intermediateFiling rules define when and how often a filing is required — set and manage them in the Registration editor under Filing Rules.
Adding a New Jurisdiction
beginnerAdd a new jurisdiction by creating a new Registration for your entity — each jurisdiction gets its own registration record.
Filings & Compliance (6)
Recovering a Deleted Filing
beginnerDeleted unfiled filings can be recovered by re-filing through the compliance calendar — the filing rule still exists on your registration.
Untitled
beginnerFilings are either Filed or Unfiled, with additional statuses tracked by due date.
How to Edit a Filing's Due Date
intermediateUse Edit Filing or File Now to update a due date, depending on whether you are ready to file.
Understanding the Compliance Calendar
beginnerThe compliance calendar shows all upcoming, due, and overdue filings across all your entities in a visual monthly view.
Compliance Data Not Loading
beginnerIf compliance data isn't loading, try refreshing the page or using the reload icon — data is fetched live from your encrypted records.
Reactivating a Discontinued Filing Rule
intermediateUse the reactivate button to reactivate a discontinued filing rule. If no unfiled filing instance exists for the rule, recreate it by unfiling and then refiling the prior filing.
Security & Access (3)
How Zero-Knowledge Encryption Protects Your Data
intermediateEquipath uses zero-knowledge encryption — your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves, so Equipath never sees your plaintext data.
Managing Your Recovery Key
beginnerYour recovery key is the only way to recover your data if you forget your password — store it securely offline.
Granting Access to Advisors and Team Members
intermediateInvite advisors or team members on the Sharing tab — you control exactly which entities and permissions they receive.
