Adding a New Jurisdiction
In Equipath, each jurisdiction where an entity is registered is represented as a separate Registration record.
Steps to Add a Jurisdiction
- Navigate to the entity's Registrations tab.
- Click Add Registration.
- Select the jurisdiction (state, country, or local).
- Fill in the registration details:
- Date registered
- Registered agent (if applicable)
- Registration type (Foreign Qualification, Domestic, etc.)
- Add filing rules for any recurring compliance requirements.
- Click Save.
Multiple Registrations per Jurisdiction
An entity can have multiple registrations in the same jurisdiction — for example, a domestic LLC registration and a separate annual report filing. Use descriptive names to distinguish them.
Jurisdiction Types
- State — U.S. state jurisdictions.
- Federal — Federal-level filings (e.g., IRS, SEC).
- Local — City or county registrations.
- International — Foreign country jurisdictions.
Tip: After adding a jurisdiction, review the filing rules to ensure all compliance requirements are captured.
